The time finally arrived: we were leaving for our trip! Layne and I had been planning it for so long, that we both couldn't believe that we were finally going. Plus the little scare about not being able to get the Flexipass almost put a damper on our plans. Thankfully, everything was going to work out and we were able to buy the Flexipass in Belgrade. Nikola drove us to the train station which was nice because we both had heavy bags, and the train station is about a 20 minute walk from my apartment. Also, he was able to help us find the right sleeping compartment and take some pictures!

We are giving a thumbs-up, but little did we know how soon we would become tired of the trains!
Before we left for our trip, everyone warned us about the trains. They all seemed to hate them. This had us preparing for the worst. I thought they were going to be disgusting and dirty. However, the trains were not that bad! It was no Hilton, but good enough. They were just extremely slow! We were also told to stay awake until the border because the border patrol come knocking on your door to check your passports. Neither of us was very tired, so that was not that difficult. We decided to do what we did in Sarajevo when we were bored: play gin rummy! Once again, I was winning when we stopped playing. After the border, we both went to sleep until we got to Belgrade!
